Nov2002This view of Pago Pago Habor is from Breakers Point at the mouth of the Harbor.  There is a Weekly Pict from August (with Ryan and Allison) that shows the Harbor from the other side.  You can see the ridge where the August picture was shot, it is the lower ridge about 1/3 of the way across the picture from the Left side.  (In the August Picture, Breakers Point is off the right edge of the picture.)  You can see Fale Pule on the very left edge and up above the shore approx. half way up the ridge.  The line of white buildings in the middle on the waters edge are the canneries.  Mt. Alava is the mountain in the right 1/3 of the picture.  The pronounciation of Pago is Pongo as in Ping Pong, but add an "o" to the Pong.

2002 was eventful year in American Samoa.  We've spent our free time visiting the outlying islands, sailing a Hobie Cat, hiking the jungle trails, snorkeling the coral reefs, paddling outrigger canoes  and drinking fresh pina coladas on the beach.  We'll be traveling in New Zealand over the holidays and are scheduled to return to the mainland in March.  After an extended visit on the East Coast, we plan to take a road trip across the continental 48 and then on up the Alcan to Alaska.  We hope to tie the knot some time in 2003 and settle in Homer.  We wish we could be closer to family and friends this holiday season, but will be back on the mainland soon.  'All the best for a peaceful and happy New Year!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
