I accidently passed through Gaylord VA whilst driving from Charlottesville VA. up to Philadelphia. Good thing I did not blink or I'd of missed the whole town. 
After we left Samoa, we spent a week on the Island of Hawaii. We hiked and toured Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park by day. At Sunset, we drove down to the end of the Chain of Craters Road. The end of the road is caused by successive lava flows over the road since the 1970's. About the time we got there, the lava flow shifted to the West and shortened the road some more. The NPS had to move the huts and bathrooms further down the road to the West. The flames behind Allison are the lava burning the road. Before the rangers chased us away, I walk up to part of the lava that had the black crust on it. I could see the red glowing lava in the cracks in the cooled lava. I was amazed to discover that the surface was almost cool enough to keep my hand on, yet I could see the red lava in the cracks less than 2 inches away. I believe the Lava is eruptinging out of the Pu'u O'o vent. More Info at: http://www.nps.gov/havo/home.htm
