28Oct2003 This is part of the view as we looked back whilst departing Glennallen. Mt. Drum's peak reaches 12010 feet. The full view (approx. 90 deg.) is below, with Mt. Sanford (16237ft) on the left, and the large dome on the right is Mt. Wrangell (about 13500ft). I thought the drive from Tok to Palmer to be some of the most spectacular driving scenery I have ever seen.
27Oct2003 This is not a spectacular picture, but the content is spectacular to me. There are 14 Bald Eagles on the river there and two more in the trees (barely discernable as black and white dots.) (There are a few lowly gulls mixed in on the river also.) The Preserve is just outside of Haines Alaska. The Eagles start gathering in October and I assume they reach peak density in November when Haines has it's Alaska Bald Eagle Festival. This year the festival starts 12 November, 2003. It was amazing to see miles of river with so many eagles on the bars and in the trees, sometimes many eagles in one tree. Apparently the Homer area is also a Bald Eagle gathering spot, but without the density and probably the numbers. Festival info: http://baldeaglefest.org/

27Oct2003 The Eldred Rock Lighthouse in the Lynn Canal about 20 miles South of Haines Alaska. We passed this lighthouse while taking the inland ferry up from Bellingham.

Homer Dawn
18Nov2003 I'll try to refrain from getting monotonous with the Homer Dawn pictures. I have been shooting a lot of dawn pictures. I just love getting up to watch the dawn, drink my coffee and listen to NPR Morning Edition. Every dawn is different, and last week there were many spectacular ones. One doesn't even have to get up early to see them now as currently the sun is not rising until about 9:15 a.m.
