A View and a yard of our own!
13Sep2003  We have a HOME at last!  This is the view from our house of Kachemak Bay, the Homer Spit and the mountains beyond.  Our little love nest will be much more enjoyable when we get a bed and can afford to get some furnature.

Fall has arrived in Homer
21Sep2003  Fall has arrived in Homer.  We have already had 2 or 3 hard frosts.  The mountains across Kachemak Bay already have a dusting of snow.  Saturday morning we hit a driving snow storm coming across Turnagain pass on our way home from a shopping spree in Anchorage.  I find the cool crisp mornings are very invigorating.  The yellow trees are birches.  The green non-conifers are alders.  The alders leaves just die and don't really change to inspiring colors.
28Sep2003  My first take on this as I walked by in the parking lot was to dismiss it with a "What a sick so-and-so." But then I quickly began to wonder it's meaning, why someone would do this, what is their statement and is there an intended statement.  Did this start out as something cute; something akin to the teddy bear on the back of a Hell's Angels chopper, only to be reduced by time, gravity and the elements to a sinister and demented display?  Or is this just the result of too many Homer Brews?
